Down the road in Gallatin on the first weekend of November is one of the biggest free old time music festivals around. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets to sit on the leaves at the Grand Old Gallatin Music Festival, and listen to some of the finest bluegrass and acoustic country music musicians in the area without having the venture into Nashville.
Hermitage Ghost Tours
Madison is Andrew Jackson’s old stomping grounds, so don’t miss the Hermitage Ghost Tour. Until the weekend after Halloween, President Jackson’s home is open and the spirits are restless. You’ll explore the mansion, grounds, and cemetery by lantern light while guides tell the ghost stories associated with this historical place. It’s rumored that the spirit of the man himself sometimes tags along.
Peeler Park Autumn Colors
Hiking, biking, riding, and kayaking are great fall activities in Madison, TN. Peeler Park Greenway trail cuts through Peeler Park in Madison along the Cumberland River. Watch for remote controlled airplanes flying over the trees. If you love kayaking, there’s a boat ramp so you can see the changing leaves from the river. Bring your horse for a perfect autumn trail ride.

It’s not fall until you’ve gone to the farm. Madison Creek Farms is a third-generation farm located in Goodlettsville, and they’re open to the public through October. Enjoy simple farm fun and stock up on the best autumn crops, flowers, and their homemade artisan jams at this beautiful working farmstead.
